Like a Dragon: Ishin! is an action-adventure game set during the turbulent Bakumatsu period of Japanese history. Players take on the role of Sakamoto Ryoma, a legendary historical figure, as he seeks justice for the assassination of his adoptive father.
Ryoma goes undercover as Saito Hajime, a member of the Shinsengumi, an elite police force, to infiltrate their ranks and uncover the truth. The game seamlessly blends historical accuracy with the series’ signature brand of over-the-top action and humor.
Combat is a dynamic spectacle, allowing players to wield an array of traditional Japanese weapons, including swords, guns, and even a revolutionary new weapon: the cannon. Ryoma can also utilize unique fighting styles, such as the “Wild Dancer” style, which emphasizes swift and agile movements, and the “Phantom” style, which allows him to disappear and reappear behind enemies.
Beyond the main story, Ishin! offers a rich open world to explore, filled with side quests, minigames, and engaging characters. From running a chicken farm to playing a unique version of baseball, players can immerse themselves in the vibrant and chaotic world of 19th-century Kyoto.
